What's your bid?

Two layers of dark devil's food chocolate, with pudding in the mix for extra moist goodness. An inch and a half of real whipped cream and crushed double stuffed mint Oreos. Real butter, butter cream frosting with Dutch cocoa and Hershey Syrup Swirls. Each piece topped with a whole double stuffed mint Oreo.

So, what's your bid?

Auction Update: After some haggling and a small fist fight it went for $29.00

o.k. no fist fight, but it made for a great "ward party" story, don't you think?

Lisa, thanks! I'm hoping it "sells" well so the girls get a good start on their camp money.

I remember as a kid, the scouts having a cake bake off and auction. I didn't have brothers of course, but My Dad was always involved and my Mum always made something fun.

For years, and years, I thought cakes were only as good as they looked? Isn't that odd? Id never much eaten them, and it didn't occur to me, that the *taste* of the cake is what is in the value.

It seems that is a lesson that has taken a long time to sink in, (not just with cake of course)---

What I love about this one is, it's beautiful and Yum. The oreo's, give you just a whisper of the idea, that buried beneath the chocolate cream, is something dark and scrumptious. Something more profound and worthy.

I love it-

I will give you my first born son! Let me know your address and I'll send him UPS!

ah Lisa, I used to think the same! Now I look to the cook and then make my decision! Although someone smart (sis would know who) said, "You taste first with your eyes, then with your tongue." I think in many ways that's true.

Thanks again for your generous and thoughtful comments. <3!!!

Mel, I just might take you up on that bid!

$29 ??!!! I would have driven up the two hours and paid you that. Your family had to be saying something along the same lines after the aroma filled the kitchen for a day.

TWENTY NINE DOLLARS?

OH good heavens.

HEAVENS..

Okay I am swearing now.

I'd have driven ALL the way to get it for twenty nine dollars.

*Rolling eyes*

$29.00. For *our* ward, that $29.00 may as well have been $100.00. I am not sure what the other cakes went for, but I wouldn't be surprised if the others went for $2 - $5.00. In *our* area, finances are tight and so I was amazed when I was told it sold for that amount.

That said, if I make another one, would you guys drive up and just visit for the day?

mmmMMMMMmmm...yummy! This looks soooooo good! I'd pay $29 for it, heck I'd go all the way up to $30!

Did you make it for something special?

I think that cake would be worth a long car trip to your area with 4 hyper kids in a minivan with broken air conditioning in the middle of august.

Or better yet, I could leave the kids home and fly to get it.

Red, they were raising $$$ for girl's camp. You need to come by sometime and I'll show you how to make one!

Jill, Just let me know when to have it ready!
